I am doing my presentation on the RTI and how children who are struggling learner need more one-on-one time with a teacher. I have found that working with people in a public school setting can be very frustrating because they don't have time for you. I would think that they would help a fellow teacher out but they don't. Anyways, I plan on doing my presentation on PowerPoint I want everyone to be able to see clearly what I am talking about. I have taken most of my information from my research paper that I put together for EDU 411. I still have not been able to get the RTI director for the school I am working with to call me back. I was hoping to get more facts from her for my presentation. I went through old papers that I still have from previous classes that I have taken at
Questions that I have for my colleagues are....
Do you think that PowerPoint is enough or should I do more?
How did you guys get people to respond to you? Phone calls- email- personal visits
What are your thoughts on RTI do you feel that children should have more one on one time with the teacher?
What suggestions do you have to get my presentation to come together since my main person won't respond to me?
***** Can someone please help me understand how to make this all come together? I am worried we only have a few weeks left and I feel so unprepared.

You will need to move forward and create a plan to present, as if the RtI director would be there and would be supportive. Talking to the Assistant Principal or principal would be a great next step.
Natalie,
ReplyDeleteYes I am beyond excited this will be over soon. This journey has been an experience for me and not easy like you said. I also find myself going back to old folders from Kendall courses to find resources that will help me and benefit me now. I think it’s a great way to learn more of RTI, however, I think it’s important you get feedback from professors who are working with students in different Tears to gain new knowledge and real life experiences.
I think you have the right idea of what you are advocating, and I can see that you strongly believe in helping children succeed, because you can relate to your topic. I hope someone does help you soon, I’m surprise they haven’t helped you schools are very welcoming to College students, well some. I’m sure you will get a hold of someone, best of luck to you.
I think PowerPoint is a good technique to use when presenting, but my question for you is, how many people will attend your presentation? One of your questions to us was, how did you guys get people to respond to you? For me it was a little easier since I work in a school district, but I think is rude if you’ve tried everything, how about contacting your teacher where you did some of your observation hours or if you previously interview teachers how about asking them for help. In some cases they can help you get a hold of someone, or if they can help you with RTI, I’m sure they will. Good luck Natalie, I’m sure you will find answers and succeed.

Hello Natalie,
ReplyDeleteI think what you are advocating for is awesome and needed for many children. I also believe that Power Point presentations are great to get your points across.
As far as getting people to respond back to me I did it all phone calls, personal visits and e-mails just to be in the save side. I absolutely believe that children should have more one on one time with the teachers especially the ones that are lagging because that will help them gain better understanding on the materials that are being taught in class.
Well, you have a few days left for your presentation, keep on calling, go by and e-mail her, if no respond still go to a higher person which are the Assistant principle or the principle. Good luck!!!
